We recently put our coffee pallets to good use, or reuse!

Each month we receive about 30 wood pallets loaded with bags of our green beans. And each month these pallets accumulate behind our building. We offer them to local businesses and schools, and to anyone who will take them, but alas, the pile still grows.

We began brainstorming items we could make from these coffee pallets.  The wood is rough and the pieces are small, so we didn't think big items like furniture would work.  We finally hit on the idea of turning them into our company signs.  We love how they look and feel.  They are so beautiful, we thought our FRIENDS might want one, so we are offering them for redemption or sale in our Frequent Friend® program.

Thanks to the carpentry skills of our Friend, Eric Denice, and to Lisa Yorke at Maple Landmark Woodcraft, who did the silkscreen printing. The finish used to coat the sign is made by our friends up in Hardwick at Vermont Natural Coatings. They use whey [a by-product of cheese-making] to make eco-friendly products. Over all, we ended up with a great sign, a locally-made product, and a neighborly collaboration.
